Holy crap, D&D was awesome last night. Matt was gone so I had to play his character (poorly too, I might add) but I did some honest to god roleplaying this time and it was a blast. Since we decided upon the Forgotten Realms as a setting, our cleric needed to pick a new deity. He picked Kossuth, the Firelord. Well my elven druid who's a defender of the trees hates fire. So the cleric would chime in with "we should burn it!" and I'd say "you're staying the fuck away from me and we're not burning anything!"
And my wallet will be emptying itself over the course of the summer. Savage Species + Ghostwalk + Races of Faerun + Revised Core Rules = one broke Anti-brian.
And I'm not even mentioning the Gameboy Advance SP, Xenosaga, .hack, Zelda: The Wind Waker, or Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.
I lost a lot of hair. A LOT of hair. I'll get a picture soon. It's too bad I forgot to get a "before" picture.
So I may be doing some random shit to this entry (like the last one) so I can test out parts of the new layout. And eventually I'll get the new layout up too as I've gotten a pile of work done on it and I think it's almost done.
Tonight is DnD night. Woo hoo!
And here's that Tool song I promised!
From ?nima. One of my favorite.
And as the walls come down and
As I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of the times
I have died
and will die.
It's all right.
I don't mind.
Tool - H (8.6mb)
Yes! Billy Corgan's new band Zwan's first album comes out today and I'm so happy I could piss myself! But I won't!
Have I mentioned how much I love working part-time and spending so much time at school? I'm actually enjoying some of my classes! Well, history of western civ and computer science 3 are fun, trig is tolerable if only because I understand it all, and composition is damn near awful because my professor is kind of a nutcase but still! I'm not working so it's all good!
I finally got an appointment scheduled with my optometrist which is fantastic because I think my vision is getting worse by the day and it's making me nuts.
I'm still listening to Tool. Lots of Tool. And some Sigur Ros. I'll put up a Tool song that I enjoy when I get home.
And there's no Tool MP3 because I so completely forgot. Whoops!
So last week Gamestop was running a promotion where if you traded in 2 PS2 games, you got The Getaway for free. So I did, not trading any of my games in but using a more dubious method of buying the 2 cheapest games I could get my hands on and trading THEM in instead. So I got The Getaway for $20.
Well, The Getaway is poop. "Poop" is the most appropriate adjective I can use to describe it and it's the ONLY adjective I've been using to describe it. It's poop.
So I returned it. "This game is poop. I want Rygar. I'll pay the $10 difference." And now I have Rygar and this game is bad fucking ass. I thought everyone was nuts when they compared it to Symphony of the Night but it's damn close. You kill shit, you get points to level up your diskarmors, and you get mystic stones to add abilities to them. Not to mention the game is absolutely gorgeous.
And it's like Symphony of the Night in that once I get going, I don't really want to stop playing. And it really makes me want Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. Goddamnit.
Yup, after having the last 3 days off, I finally have to work. 4:30 - close. Cashier. Oh well, maybe we'll be unbusy and I can spend the 6 hours standing there and zoning out. Or crying because tomorrow is another 8 hours in the service desk. Bleh. At least Don's going to be there though!
Last night's D&D game went well, Matt's playing a lawful good paladin and he's playing him very well so his character is constantly getting on my nerves. I managed to get caught by the same trapped door twice but that's because I had to get into the room behind it and after I got in the first time, I was pushed out by a fightin' shrub. Damn shrubs.
There's someone at my computer. I've claimed one of the computers and there's someone on it. It better not be the same someone who's been installing all that yahoo shit on there, or I'll kill the fucker. I ripped it out kicking and screaming so hopefully when he/she/it tries to run it, the missing links will be some clue. Or else I'll have to goatse or tubgirl the motherfucker.
I've been listening to Tool's "Lateralus" an awful lot lately. It's really fucking great. I didn't think it was all that good when I got it because it's not very much like AEnima but it's WAY better.
I think my composition teacher wishes he were a philosophy teacher because there's a fuckload of philosophy crammed into my composition class. I really don't know what discussing the difference between two styles of teaching has to do with composition but who cares!
I think the reality of Matt taking a class called "Introduction to Logic" is fucking hilarious. It's like an oxymoron. Who needs logic anyway? Much like aging and winning, logic is for suckers!
I just ate a bag of salted peanuts and now I'm really thirsty and all I have is a five dollar bill. This is like some sort of evil trickery. I HAVE MONEY, GIVE ME A FUCKING SODA!
Okay so yesterday I worked for 8 hours in the service desk at Target. It wasn't hell but it sucked. People get angry when they're trying to weasel some free money out of a company and one of it's employees says no.
You know what I want? A cheese danish from Mc Donald's. Now typically, Mc Donald's is disgusting and the devil. But I love their breakfast items and they have the best cheese danish anywhere, and why? Because it's hot, it's soft, and it's covered in sugar. I could also go for a nice stiff waffle or an sausage, egg, and cheese mcmuffin.
Yup, another 2 hours of sitting here in the computer lab.
Last night's DnD game went well. Everyone playing was older than me, most by around 10 years, but hey, it was fun! I ended up playing an Elven druid. We needed a spellcaster who wasn't bound by any religion. We're playing through The Sunless Citadel, which is a pre-made module and it's not bad but it's not great either. At least it's real heavy on the XP, especially considering there's 7 of playing and the whole reason we're playing it is to get through the early levels.
I'd now like to waste everyone's time by reciting lyrics as I haven't done that in a billion years. I always find myself singing these when I'm alone. Hmmm...
I don't miss where I came from
But each night, I dream about being back home
When I wake up in the morning
I'm too tired, too tired of being alone
So I get up and go downtown
And pick me out a little piece of ground where I
Can prove something to the world
I can prove something to the world
P.S. And I swear to god, the people in this computer lab do the dumbest shit. I was just watching one guy scroll a page up and down and up and down for like a minute. 15 minutes ago I heard the classic "You've got male!" and I keep hearing people playing dumb flash games involving bad gunfire sound effects.
P.S.S. I'm also working on a new layout. It's coming together nicely.
Oh yes, more snow! Of course it's not enough snow to make ME happy but it's snow nonetheless.
So Katie's sitting at home, probably sleeping, because she didn't want to get out of bed today and called off. I'm here at school till 2. And my DnD game starts around 6:45. I have about 4 hours of absolute free time. Isn't that amazing? And the schedule at Target came out yesterday (about 2 days earlier than usual, the huge scheduling woman must've forgotten how to get food into her mouth) and I'm only working 3 days but 2 of them are long shifts on days off and the other is a goofy cashiering shift. Next week's going to be even easier than this week was.
I'm starting to get excited about the DnD game tonight. I haven't played for a while, I still need to dig out my dice. The only problem is I'm running out of creative character concepts. Sure, I could play Dave but he's about as shallow as they get and I don't like having to re-use previous characters. Except maybe the reckless barbarian. Now that was a fun character. Do you have any idea how many people he killed ON ACCIDENT??? I think one of my favorites was the prisoner he accidently shot when I critically failed with my short bow. Whoops! Good thing it was a faceless prop and not a real character like the sheriff or the innkeeper or else I would've been in trouble! Oh wait, I did kill (or contribute to killing) the sheriff and the innkeeper but it was in Matt's game and he let us run with it and it was a riot.
Speaking of Matt, he's going to have one hell of a time getting out to Charleston tonight, those country roads are gonna be murder with all the snow that's on them. Good thing the road to Charleston's not full of curves!
But I think it's time for me to go back to twiddling my thumbs and playing gameboy.
So when Matt and I went out to Battlegrounds last night so he could get the Tau 40K codex, I saw a flyer for a DnD game being run there. It's being run by my former computer science teacher from freshman year of high school. I'm SO there. Mr. Garvue was fucking great! Plus it'll give my dice a nice workout since they've been gathering too much dust lately.
If Matt plays in it (it's during his bi-weekly game at Eastern so he'd only be able to play every other week if he did) we're going to play Roy and Marth (of Super Smash Bros. Melee) ripoffs named Dave (Roy ripoff) and Ray (Marth ripoff) as Roy and Marth are badasses and we can hope to achieve this level of badassedness if we were to play ripoff characters. Wow, that's like the longest sentence (or run-on!) ever!
But that's about it. I only have 2 classes today and then I work and then Matt and Shane are coming over for some video game madness. Should be a great night!
I'm seriously fucking bored too, by the way. I'm "working" and I've forgotten my Shacknews password so I can't comment and I don't have any server space here at school yet so working on some HTML crap would be pointless. Maybe I can do some homework. Yeah. Homework. Yippy.
