World of Hurt

Residents: Just me.

All this coughing not only gives me a headache after a while but is also making my ribcage hurt and my abs. So I hate living right now.

For christmas I got a new DVD drive for my computer, a new 80GB hard drive, Unicron (the most badass transformer ever!), and a handful of money. Katie got me the Jay & Silent Bob figures from the Mallrats inaction figure line, REM's best of album, and an Aqua Teen Hunger Force t-shirt and patch. I thought it was a pretty good christmas, even if I was coughing and hacking up phlegm the whole time.

Comedy Central is showing NOTHING but Saturday Night Live for the next 10 hours. This has got to be some kind of punishment.

Styrofoam

Everything tastes like styrofoam. Even my hot dogs from Wienerdog. And it makes me very sad.

I love watching Jerry Springer. Seriously. Every episode is the same but you never know who is going to be on it. Today they had this comical little asian man who was screwing two fat black chicks! And this guy was dancing around and acting goofy and yeah, I guess you just had to be here.

Work in an hour. There's only 2 weeks left in the "holiday season" and I can't wait till it's over.

I’m Siiick

So much for 8 hours of overtime. So much for even 40 hours of work this week. Yesterday I woke up and my head was pounding, the room was spinning, and I couldn't stop coughing. So I spent the whole day sleeping. Today, more of the same. My sinuses are killing me, my throat hurts from all the coughing, and my hands, nose, and feet have been cold ever since I woke up. It sucks.

So I've been doing a ton of sleeping. And little more. My left hand and wrist are swollen. I know my wrist is swollen because my watch fits, usually it slides around a lot but today when I took it off, it was so tight that it left a mark. My mom thinks I'm retaining water.

Katie's been taking care of me and making me food and such but tonight she's at her parents house because tomorrow is her mother's birthday so I'm at my mom's right now. Cops is on and it's a good one! Prostituition stings! Just in time for the holidays! Ooooh and they just got a guy who picked up a woman who's actually a guy! Boy, is his face red!

I haven't shaved in 3 days. My skin is actually dry to the point of where anything rubbing against it feel uncomfortable. Yesterday when I woke up and looked in the mirror, I wondered how my hair could've gotten darker overnight. Then I realized that it wasn't my hair that was darker; it was my skin that was paler.

And on top of all of this, Kay B Toys is getting out of the video game business and supposedly having a HUGE sale today. Otogi for $15. F-Zero GX for $20. Amplitude for $10. And I don't even feel like dragging myself out to the mall to check it out. Hopefully they'll still have some copies of Otogi and F-Zero by the time I get off work tomorrow.

48

Yup. 8 hours of mandatory overtime. So it means I work 6 days a week. But think of the money!

So today was my one day off this week. I slept. And I worked. I made a links page. Yeah. It's like I'm going to finish this website! It'll probably happen just as soon as I decide I'm bored with this layout and have to start the whole process over again.

Last night I watched the first two episodes of Haibane Renmei and finished disc 1 of Berserk. Could I have chosen any two more different animes? Berserk is blood-soaked, dark, and gritty. Haibane Renmei is light-hearted, aloof, and bright. And after watching the first two episodes, Haibane Renmei definitely is sore thumb in my anime collection. Not to say I don't enjoy it, it's good alright, but when it's sitting on my shelf next to Zaion, Evangelion, and Hellsing, it looks a little out of place, and even moreso now that I've actually gotten to watch some of it.

Winamp 5 was just released. They went from Winamp 3 to Winamp 5 as Winamp 3 sucked and everyone just kept using Winamp 2 so Winamp 5 is the small memory overhead of Winamp 2 and the video and library features of Winamp 3. So 2 + 3 = 5. Aren't they clever? But by far the best feature of Winamp 5 is the Internet TV section of the media library. Less than 50 channels per se but there's a Family Guy channel and a Futurama channel and a Simpsons channel that are always full and there's THREE Radiohead videos channels. I think I've seen every video now like 5 times. And they're missing a couple. But it's still so awesome.

Tannh?user / Deriv

I know I do this musical entry thing way too often. It's becoming my schtick.

Refused's "The Shape of Punk to Come" is an amazing album and I wish I could share the entirety of it but I'd hate to call unwanted attention to myself by hosting an entire album so I stick with one song. When I first heard "Tannh?user / Deriv?" I loved "Tannh?user" but I hated how "Deriv?" came right afterwards. I thought it was way too inappropriate for the beautiful instrumentals to be followed by thrashing guitar and screaming. But "Deriv?" grew on me, especially once I figured out the lyrics, and now I feel that though they're not a perfect match, the two songs complement each other. It's one of those songs that you start nodding your head to until you're screaming every last word at the top of your lungs.

Refused - Tannh?user / Deriv?

So where do we go from here?
Just about anywhere
Disorientated but alive
Boredom won't get me tonight

Let's bring this city to life, to light - tonight
Let's bring this city to life, tonight - to light

There is no destination
But with a goal in mind
We can all be realistic
Demand the impossible

Let's bring this city to life - to light, tonight
Let's bring this city to life - tonight

Every street is an adventure and every road becomes a trip.
Every turn we take and every decision we don't make,
Even the decision we don't make, will bring us into the secrets of their town.
Every corner we turn will lead us, every corner we turn will lead us down the labyrinths,
And every desire that we earn will guide us alive, living, loving & searching.

So where do we go from here?
Just about anywhere
Disorientated but alive
Boredom won't get me tonight
Boredom won't get me tonight
Boredom won't get me tonight
Boredom won't get me tonight

Ford Focus

I'm just dropping in to state that Project Gotham Racing 2 is an AMAZING racing game. I just completed the Compact Sports circuit (with silver medals in all but one race) and the sheer amount of variety in this one circuit alone is insane. While nearly every other racing game bores me to tears because it's nothing more than driving in circles, PGR2 grades you on your ability to pull off fancy manuevers such as drafting, drifting, making a good racing-grade turn, and getting through checkpoints without collisions and if you can complete your goal, the points you earned during the race plus the points you get for the difficulty of the goal all go towards unlocking new cars. And there's over 100 cars.

And in case anyone's wondering where I came up with a copy of PGR2, Microsoft was very generous this christmas. I came home with 3 brand new xbox games, all just for supporting the xbox platform. And between Deus Ex: Invisible War and these little gifts, I haven't touched anything but my xbox for a week. Hell, I haven't even played the other 2 games I got yet, I've been so sucked into Invisible War and now PGR2.

Classic Monkey Crap

Oh god. It's finally happened. I remembered the password to my old diary-x account. And this password consequently also gave me access to my basically unused livejournal account. So enjoy a wealth of old bullshit and you'll finally get a good idea for just how repetitive I am.

I'm still playing through Deus Ex: Invisible War. It's all but destroyed the ending to the original Deus Ex and that sucks because I still haven't finished the first one but I don't care because I'm enjoying Invisible War SO much more. I'm probably taking the grayest route through the game. I won't kill anyone or destroy anything to "make an example" but I'll do damn near anything for a biomod canister and, in general, I'm taking the most lawful and good route I can. And when I do something immoral, such as bribe someone to achieve a goal, I'll then turn around and expose them for taking bribes and collect on that reward too. So i guess that makes me a real bastard. Or is it bitch? Did I mention that I'm playing a woman?

A Mall Out of Time

Yesterday was the release of Deus Ex: Invisible War for PC and Xbox. To say I was hyped about it would be an understatement. Everyone who didn't plan on getting a copy was a sissy and deserved to have their gaming license revoked until video game taste had returned. And what happenrd on Deus Ex's release day? UPS fucked me.

It was next-day-air'ed on Tuesday, yet on Wednesday it had still not left the distribution center. Oh sure, the PC port came in just fine but I wanted it for Xbox, the platform it was made for. So there I was, angry at UPS for being such a bunch of fucking rejects and disappointed that I was not playing Deus Ex. But I wouldn't let UPS stop me from getting this game. Decatur got their shipment just fine! So last night, Katie and I paid the Decatur mall a little visit.

Now, the Decatur mall isn't in Decatur. It's in Forsythe. And it's a bigger mall but it doesn't have a second floor and therefore not as many stores. But it's got a Gamestop and a Sam Goody and a Suncoast and it's a good thing there weren't more places for Katie and I to visit.

I got my copy of Deus Ex: Invisible War at Gamestop. In Sam Goody, we found the Dorothy and Wizard figures from McFarlane's Twisted Land of Oz line. Before then, we'd never seen Dorothy in Springfield and I didn't remember ever seeing the Wizard either. And then we hit the motherload in Suncoast. Clive Barker's Tortured Souls figures for $3.25. The 12-inch Tortured Souls figure for $10. TONS of other figures I had to force myself not to purchase on top of a load of anime stuff. Katie bought all the Tortured Souls figures and an Evangelion figure for me and I got a Cowboy Bebop longsleeve and that's where we stopped.

But we also walked through Kay-B-Toys and there were a ton of other toys but three-fourths of them were OLD. Like 5 years old old. It was like time had stopped in that mall but they kept getting new toys. It was INSANE. We had to get out of there before we spent any more money.

So if you're looking for hard-to-find toys. DON'T go to the Forsythe mall. You'll leave with a thousand toys and a billion dollars of debt.
