There’s no such thing…

... As too much fun.

Holy shit, what a weekend. Jim, Andria, Matt, Chris and Amanda all came down this weekend and it was a fucking blast. We did typical Springfield stuff like playing video games and playing board games and going to malls and it was great. I think everyone else had a good time. It's a testament to how much fun we had when we went through all of St. Patrick's day and no one even brought up the topic of getting smashed, even if it would've been just for tradition.

And now I get to get prepared to go back to fucking work and we're spending this week in the field and I'm sure that'll be a fucking blast. And by a fucking blast I mean totally lame.

When Genghis watches birds…

She chirps and vibrates. She'll sit in the window and stare at the birds and make some weird chirping sound and get her fur all out of shape because her skin is crawling. It's like she is so close to trying to push her way through the screen and run up a tree.

The goddamn Locust

So I'm playing Gears of War. The game is pretty fun. It requires a lot of ducking for cover because you're not exactly Rambo. But I'm playing on medium difficulty and it seems like I have to reload every single fight at least once. And sometimes I get really fucking stuck. I mean playing one fight at least twenty times before I get it right. And it's not because I'm Rambo'ing through a part, it's because some cheap one hit kill gets me. Like a torque bow arrow or a boomshot rocket. I mean the game is fun and the storyline is decent and the dialog and voice acting are perfect but I'll be damned if I don't get put off by having to reload an area a billion times.

Another hard day of work

Well well well. I get to work bright and early at 6am. Every thing is pretty normal until one of the guys I spent last week with asks me "Why are you here? MAJ B gave you this week off." Well he didn't have to tell me twice. I cleared it with my boss who also said that MAJ B gave me the week off and then I was gone. I came home, took a nap, and played some games. Such a hard life.

So I got Alkaline Trio's new "Remains" CD. It is awesome. And then I read somewhere that there's a companion CD that you could download. The trick is that the url is hidden in a puzzle in an friends-only myspace post. So I make myself another myspace profile so I could be Alkaline Trio's friend and today it got accepted so I read the entry and then Alkaline Trio has me doing arts and crafts. You have to print off a mask and put it over a page in the liner notes from "Remains" to get three words. You use those words to decode a URL and then you can log in and download the companion CD. And it was so much work that there's no fucking way I'm letting anyone else even listen to this without going through the routine themselves. Screw you guys, I paid this free CD with my free time on my free week off.

Wiki-lame-dia

I don't understand this. Wikipedia is supposed to be the "free encyclopedia". As in "A comprehensive reference work containing articles on a wide range of subjects or on numerous aspects of a particular field, usually arranged alphabetically" as American Heritage Dictionary puts it. So who gave this guy a license to delete the article for the band The Draft.

That's me at the bottom of his discussion page. I'm all for moderation to keep the crap and vandalism out but there's no reason to delete anything. If Wikipedia is going to be an all-inclusive repository of knowledge then even things that some people may consider insignificant have their place. And when I'm enjoying listening to The Draft and want to know more about them as I have in the past, I don't expect to be greeted with a fancy 404 and a two word excuse for the pages' loss.

New stuff

I've added a header image and a boring little icon. It almost livens up this place. Like a fake fern in a hospital lobby.

Ft. Polk was miserable.

I spent a week as a staff officer (a job title way beyond mine) and a S3 slave. If you don't recognize those terms you should be happy. It was boring as fuck.

But now I'm home and will be for quite a while and I've got the next four days off. I think I'll finish painting my room, play more Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries, eat some pizza rolls, watch some TV, maybe go see a movie, and turn off my phone.
