Demons from Hell
I'm about three-fourths of the way through Doom 3. Still thoroughly enjoyable.
Since it's about five days from the fourth of July and a weekend my neighborhood is apparently exploding. I don't know what to make of it. At least I'm not trying to sleep or anything.
Speaking of not sleeping, I'm on leave for the next three weeks and that's pretty fucking awesome.
Last night I took Katie to see Hot Fuzz. It's by the same team that did Shaun of the Dead with many of the same actors. It was totally hilarious. That makes two good funny cop movies this year (Reno 911! Miami)
Hot blue plasma
The breakfast of choice for demons from hell! I'm on my third or fourth play through Doom 3. I know the monster closets get tiring but I still totally enjoy this game. I haven't even come across a single cacodemon or revenant or mancubus but it's already all over. I've got my plasma rifle. It's the only weapon I really need, next to the shotgun.
Reloaded
Xerxes2 was acting up so I backed up my important crap, which isn't much as I've got an entirely seperate hard drive for that stuff, and wiped it and reloaded. It's rather refreshing. Everything runs just a little quicker and none of the quirks that made me reload in the first place are popping up. I lost my theme style for Windows XP but those are a dime a dozen and that's pretty good for deciding to wipe it and actually wiping it within the same hour. I also vacuumed out the insides. Almost makes it sound like I've done something productive even though I've yet to actually finish getting dressed.
Car shopping
Yes, it has finally come. After five years of faithful service, it's time to look at replacing my trusty Saturn. It's very exciting, even though this is just day one, which was just looking at cars to see what we wanted. I found two very serious contenders though so tomorrow I'm making a stop at consumer affairs and having their VIN's run through Carfax. This is really the first car I'll be buying without parental approval so I'm going to take advantage of all those services consumer affairs offers like free Carfax reports and contract checking.
A new (as in new to me, not a new car as in fresh off the lot) car will mean new car payments on top of the mortgage but I can afford it plus I've got enough saved up for a down payment plus whatever they give me in trade for the Saturn and three months of payments which will basically cover me up until my deployment. Plus it'll be less of a burden knowing my car is newish and won't be needing emergency repairs and it'll definitely last through the deployment.
This is all very exciting.
