Car shopping
Yes, it has finally come. After five years of faithful service, it's time to look at replacing my trusty Saturn. It's very exciting, even though this is just day one, which was just looking at cars to see what we wanted. I found two very serious contenders though so tomorrow I'm making a stop at consumer affairs and having their VIN's run through Carfax. This is really the first car I'll be buying without parental approval so I'm going to take advantage of all those services consumer affairs offers like free Carfax reports and contract checking.
A new (as in new to me, not a new car as in fresh off the lot) car will mean new car payments on top of the mortgage but I can afford it plus I've got enough saved up for a down payment plus whatever they give me in trade for the Saturn and three months of payments which will basically cover me up until my deployment. Plus it'll be less of a burden knowing my car is newish and won't be needing emergency repairs and it'll definitely last through the deployment.
This is all very exciting.

Trusty Saturn????? You mean the one that doesn’t start and has no AC. That “trusty” Saturn??
I’ll be real glad when you get something dependable and at least has air- six hours is a long drive to rescue Katie when the car “poops out” in Nashville or somewhere. You know it would be after you left!
Good for you, two!!
