Dream of Waking Ne Cede Malis

1Jul/07Off

Red Faction is my favorite shitty game ever.

It's true. I don't know how I came by this copy of Red Faction because I know I didn't buy it but I own it. And I've played it. A lot. I've beaten it even. It's easily one of the most tedious and uninteresting first person shooters ever.

And despite it's multitudes of problems (a "fully destructible" world that isn't all that destructible, the ridiculous bad AI, the way none of the enemies feel pain, the weak weapons, etc.) I'll still find myself looking at it wistfully, the discs themselves begging me to install them. Sometimes I can resist. Usually I can't. I have to install and play this shitty game to remind myself just how bad it is. I have to. I have no choice in the matter.

I did it again two days ago. Installed, patched, played. It lasted for about fifteen minutes. Up until I got to an enormous driller that for whatever reason couldn't drill through the walls of the cheap little security checkpoint so I took it straight through the menacingly arching beams of electricity only to find my enormous driller exploding and me dying. That was about all I could take of Red Faction this time. It's already off my hard drive.
