Nerd Project: Linux through the ages
I have an OLD boxed copy of Red Hat Linux 5.2 from 1997. I'd like to take a computer, install this old ass linux distro on it, and go through the process of updating everything (EVERYTHING) in it's up to modern standards without resorting to reloading the whole OS. Something tells me this would be easier than I'm making it out to be but I think it'd be fun to see how everything transitions from 1997 to 2009.

I'll admit, it's totally lame but I think that's what makes it so funny. I almost choked when I saw the "OMG!!! PONIES!!!" and the little hearts. It's utterly perfect. Screenshot it while it lasts, Slashdot will never be this funny, ever.
